Philanthropy

The compassion and generosity of Alpha Chi Omega women are demonstrated in our commitment to giving back to our communities.

Alpha Chi Omega Foundation supports the development of our members as leaders and agents of positive change in our communities.  Since 1992, our members and alumnae around the country have worked together to build awareness of domestic violence, to help prevent it, and to put an end to it.  Through a variety of programs, we staff domestic violence hotlines, organize awareness events, volunteer at local women’s shelters, and collect needed items for women and children living there.

In Lawrence, we support the Willow Domestic Violence Center. Our philanthropy events raise funds for the Willow and are also dedicated to preventing sexual assault and campus dating violence at KU. Our events mix educational activities with fun events to raise awareness for our cause.  One in four women experience Domestic Violence during their lifetime, and that college aged women are the demographic most likely to experience Domestic Violence.

In 2022, the chapter raised over $13,000 in support of the Willow last year. Outside of our two philanthropy events each year, we host a hygiene drive that supplies hygiene items for the Willow. These items support women and children as they transition out of a domestic violence situation.
